Mayra
Meaning of Mayra
Mayra is a lively Spanish spin on the classic Myra, tracing its roots back to the Greek “myrrh,” the sweet resin once treasured in biblical times, while also whispering of the blossoming month of May. She has danced through U.S. birth charts since the 1970s, never straying far from the Top 1000, which proves her quiet staying power. The name carries a gentle perfume of tradition—think incense at a festive misa—and a splash of modern sparkle, like confetti thrown at a barrio street party. Short, musical, and easy to say, Mayra feels both familiar and fresh, a little burst of sun that suggests a girl who will grow up shining her own bright, loving light.
