Rui
Meaning of Rui
Rui leaps off the tongue as easily as a monsoon breeze through Delhi’s streets. This short jewel of a name holds two proud heritages: in Portuguese, Rui (pronounced HOO-ee, /ˈhu.i/) carries the noble echo of “famous ruler,” and in Chinese, Rui (pronounced RAY, /reɪ/) sparkles with auspicious promise. In the US it’s quietly on the rise—62 tiny Ruis welcomed in 2024, a hidden gem at rank 862. For Indian families seeking a name that dances across cultures and feels like a sunrise of possibilities, Rui is a bright, global choice brimming with warmth and hope.
